Description
Do you want to know about Douglas Creek? Well you’ve come to the right place. I will tell you about all the parts to our stream reach survey. First of all, we will tell you about the Riparian Zone. The Riparian Zone is the edge of the creek where plants grow. There are deciduous trees. Deciduous trees are trees that lose their leaves in the winter. There are also shrubs, grasses, and herbs. Next, I’ll tell you about the channel. The shape in the cross section is a u shape. The longitudinal pattern is meandering. The gradient is moderate.
Next, I will tell you about stream banks. Vegetation cover is abundant and the artificial bank is 25-50 percent covered. The bank stability is eroded in some areas.
I am going to tell you about the habitat reach. We had 13 riffles and 7 pools. Our woody debris is sparse. Our organic debris is abundant.
Finally I’ll tell you about artificial structure and land uses adjacent to the creek. In the stream reach we found litter and garbage. On a hill, we found a fence. We found a garbage bag in the weeds.
To sum up now you know all about site 3 at Douglas Creek. We need to go to Douglas Creek to learn about all this fascinating stuff.
