This is how the plants and animals of the Douglas Creek water shed work together. In site 3 we studied the macroinvertabrates, water quailty, insects, vegetation, animals, and streambank. First, we will tell you about the water quality at our site. Site 3's water is very clean water. There were 13 non-tolerant macroinvertebrates which means they are very picky about the water they live in clean water. The pH and dissolved oxygen showed that the water was clean and had 11.5 oxygen.
also, we will discuss the plants at our site. On our first trip to Douglas Creek, the plants were super short. The next time they were medium and the last time they were taller than are. We had to have our site leader hold the witness post because the grass was too tall during our photo point. There was another plant that was 15 inches tall that had seed heads that flew all over. When we got on the bus, were
Muddy.
Next, we will tell you about the animals and animal evidence we found. On our trips we found 1pow print, deer scat . We also saw an animal footprint in the mud by the creek. The picture is on the blog .
Finally, how is our site doing? We think it is doing well. All the information seems to pass the test for a good place to live.0

Site Survey
Site 3 is at Douglas Creek. We study there to take photo points. Site 3 is close to the camping area. If you read this you will know all about site 3.
First we will tell you about the riparian zone. The riparian zone is the green area from the creek to as far back the green is. On the left bank looking downstream was over 100 ft. and on the right bank looking downstream was over 100 ft. Next the vegetation the conifers were sparse, the deciduous was moderate, the shrubs were abundant, the grasses and herbs were abundant. The over head canopy percent was 25%.
Next we will till you about channel. The shape in cross-section was a u shape. The longitudinal pattern was straight, meandering, and braided. The gradient was low.
Now, we will tell you about the stream banks. The vegetation cover is abundant. The artificial bank protection is 25-50%. The bank stability was erosion in some areas.
Next we will tell you about the reach habitat. The number of riffles was 5 and the percentage was 25%. The number of pools was 15 and the percentage was 75%.
Finally we will tell you about the artificial structures. In the stream reach there is litter and garbage. The alongside stream reach was a toilet made of cardboard and a toilet seat.
Now you should know about site 3.
